They weren't kidding when they titled this "Nonsense Verse", it's very silly and nonsensicle. It started to lose my attention part way through though. I imagine kids would love it though. Edward Lear’s Nonsense Verse is a wonderful collection of poetry for children about all the things that exist only in imagination, like “jumblies” who sail the sea in a sieve, or pebbles (with and without their toes). Beautiful illustrations by Jonathan Bentley help readers to process the strange imagery present in Lear’s verse, which flows with a happy, singsong rhythm. The musical style of the verse is further supported by near-perfect end rhyme. These are good poems for early readers, as the rhythm supports participatory readings in groups, the rhyme is easy to spot, and the language is relatively simple (even the nonsense words). As a collection, the poems have a celebratory tone, with each character emerging victorious and happy by the end. Highly recommended for any youth poetry collection. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
A delightful picture book for young children, bringing new life to five of Edward Lears best-loved nonsense verses. Zany characters leap across the pages in a colourful fantasy world where nothing is what it seems and anything is possible. It is the ideal way to introduce young children to the work of Edward Lear. The bright, appealing illustrations are more child-friendly than the other more esoteric editions currently available. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
