I really liked "Water" by Angela Webb because I thought it was very informative but not overwhelming for children. It is an easy read that is well written and consistently organized throughout. Before reading, I was curious as to how Webb could write about water without getting too scientific and confusing for a young reader since this is a children's book. However, she does an excellent job at providing a lot of insightful information that a child would find fascinating and not confusing. The illustrations play a big role in making the book understandable. For example, when Webb demonstrated how water can fill up space by pouring into a glass jar with stones at the bottom of the jar, she has an image demonstrating a glass jar filled with rocks and water being poured into it. I also liked how she asked questions in the book without answering them, leaving it up for the reader to discover and decide. For example, when talking about pouring water into a water wheel, she asks how can the wheel turn faster, without explaining that pouring more water in at once will make the wheel turn faster. She also explains evaporation of water without using the scientific word. She simply states that water form tiny droplets in the air when heated. Overall, the book "Water" provides a lot of basic information on water that a lot of young readers may not know. ( )
