This author uses thes story of Ruth and Naomi to delve into different aspects of today's women's lives with chapters called independence, empowerment, respect, insight, recognition, invisibility, self-definition, fulfillment, aging and loss. Each chapter begins with the pertinent Bible verses about the story of Ruth and Naomi. Then the discussion follows. There is a lot to think about here: how older women can be mentors for younger women, how women can receive greater respect and recognition rather than remaining invisible, making good choices, dealing with aging and loss, and living with mroe courage, more faith, less fear. A very good book with gorgeous illustrations. ( )
