This book had plenty of steamy sex, which I have come to expect from Berkley. And that is where my compliments stop. Lots of graphic sex scenes, which is enjoyable. However, the rest of the book just wasn't that great. The writing was not well done, and it ended up having more SF than I like. Space transport is not for me, and much of the book was based more on magic than that but it still bothered me. Shad is the most interesting character, and he doesn't even get to speak aloud! I finished it to know what happened, but I don't really have any desire to read more in this series. I'm glad I got this one on clearance, and now it will sit amongst the other bodice-rippers. ( )

Sizzling sex scenes that really push the boundaries of reality, The Flame And The Shadow is one scorcher of a read. Set in a world where power is everything, this book takes you on a magical journey of self discovery. The story starts out well, and ends with a bang, but becomes a little dry in the middle. Stick with it in the end it is worth reading. Denise Rossetti I think is on a great start with this brand new series. ( )
