At the time most folk doubted that anyone could survive for 43 days on a two bars of chocolate trapped in a snow cave in the Himalayas in winter, and there were suggestions that this entire story was faked. But after reading this account I can't imagine that anyone would make up a story that is so potentially interesting and then write such a dull book. It might make a great story if it had been written by someone else, or even more probably a quite decent movie. I'll keep the book for its curiosity value, but that's its only real merit. Account of James Scott's ordeal in the Himalayas, where he was lost for 43 days during the northern winter of 1991-92, and his sister Joanne's efforts to rescue him. Remarkably, Scott survived the ravages of cold, hunger, isolation and fear. The chronological format alternates the viewpoints of Scott and Robertson as the tragedy and unexpected happy ending unfold. Introduction by Tim Macartney-Snape.
