I'm reviewing this quite late after reading it and I don't remember much, except that I found it disappointing and slightly boring. (

In this first book of a new fantasy trilogy, Corki and Pippa barely remember their lives before Grassland. Now they toil as diggers for their masked taskmasters, the Spears. But change is coming, and it may bring with it the opportunity for the children to escape their lives of slavery. This book made me want to read the sequel, and I can't wait to read it. (
