Brought down to an elementary level, Rachel Isadora pinpoints the major points of Mozart's life. Little readers are treated to brilliant watercolors that show Mozart from his childhood, where he taught himself to play music at age five, to his death while writing a requiem at age thirty-five. Isadora's writing is charming and easy for beginning readers to understand. The book is well organized and accurate in its details. For those interested in music, this is a great book for future musicians! ( )

The story of young Mozart was informative. I've heard of the prodigy and his compositions, but knew little of his personal life as a child and as an adult. The fact that he could write music before he could write words is unbelievable. The illustrations in this book really help the reader to flow along with the story of his life and visualize this young child and his amazing achievements. This book seems very facts- oriented. There are lots of names of people he came in contact with, titles of important operas, and dates of important milestones throughout his life. I believe the age range on this book is a little too wide, a three year old would probably loose interest and get distracted with the names, dates, and titles as you read it to them. ( )

Young Mozart is a picture biography about the life of Wolfgang Mozart. As a child, Mozart was considered a prodigy. He composed many songs before he could write words. The book also gives readers a glimpse into Mozart's adulthood and his accomplishments. I would definitely introduce this story to students to broaden their history of classical music as they learn about a prominent figure. ( )

This is a biography about the life of the famous musician and his career. This would be a good book to have when teaching kids about famous people in history or famous musicians. ( )

At the age of five, Mozart was a musical prodigy. His young life is told in a story format, which includes his family. Beautiful portraits illustrate the book. ( )
