The price of power... After Cheyenne Martin's death, everyone at Easton Academy is struggling to recover from yet another tragedy--especially the girls of Billings Hall. With Cheyenne gone, they need to elect a new leader. And who better than Reed Brennan, the ultimate Billings Girls? As the new Billings president, Reed suddenly has access to power she never imagined. Gossip is reported to her immediately, she has first dibs on everything from dining tables to dorm rooms, and Billings's most powerful alumnae are at her beck and call. So when Easton's students discover they're the only prep school on the East Coast not invited to this year's all-inclusive Legacy party, everyone turns to Reed to get them back on the list. Reed is the most powerful girl at Easton. She revels in her newfound status, but knows better than anyone that the Bilings leaders have a tainted legacy: Ariana was institutionalized, Noelle was expelled, and Cheyenne just died. History has a way of repeating itself at Easton, and now that Reed has everything she's ever wanted, she has everything to lose.… (altro)

Cheyenne is dead and the Legacy is cancelled. Cheyenne’s family was supposed to be in charge of this year’s Legacy, but they decided against it in the wake of her death. Reed was unanimously voted the new prez of Billings and she will stop at nothing to make sure they get to do something similar to the Legacy (a ridiculous party filled with sex, drugs, alcohol, music that Legacies of the private schools attend each year).

They hear through the grapevine that the Legacy may still be on, but no one from Easton was invited. Now it’s up to Reed to make sure they get there.

She doesn’t have to do it alone though, a former Billings girl is back and they’ve definitely switched roles.

Not only is Reed dealing with all of the Legacy drama, she is also dealing with a bit of boy drama. She is still dating Josh, but a former Billings student, who also dated one of her best friends is interested in Reed. She loves Josh, but the other fella, who can turn him down? He’s gorgeous, smart, rich and an Ivy Leaguer.

I have to admit this was my least favorite book so far out of the Private series. I know that people can’t die in every book, but after so much drama in the rest of the series, this one kind of slacked.

I enjoyed the rituals in this book. Now that Reed is president, she is on top of the world. She has money, access to awesome clothes, contacts and a file with any info possible on her Billings family. I don’t know if this is how life really is for these people, but it’s what I imagine it to be.

This book set up a little bit of drama for the future. When they finally found out who set up the Legacy, they also find out she has a connection to Cheyenne. I imagine this drama will continue to build.

I give Legacy 2 bookmarks. ( )

The Girls of Billing are still grieving over the loss of Cheyenne. The sisters can't believe that one of their own would commit suicide. But Cheyenne was expelled at the end of book five, INNER CIRCLE, and the girls believe Cheyenne couldn't face leaving in disgrace.

So we arrive at the start of book six in the PRIVATE series by Kate Brian.

Reed Brennan can't stand seeing everyone so down and depressed. So she convinces them that a day in town shopping and a nice dinner will do everyone wonders. The gals of Billing dormitory head off into town and have a wonderful time. Retail therapy and good food perk them all up. And much to Reed's surprise, while at dinner, the girls unanimously elect her the new president of Billings Hall. Reed is speechless, but she accepts and plans on making Easton Academy forget the bad that happened while Cheyenne was running things.

But when the girls arrive back at the dorm, everything comes to a complete stop. For there, standing in the dorm, is none other than Noelle Lange. She's back! Reed has missed her terribly, but she can't believe that Noelle didn't tell her she was returning to Easton. Right from her return, Reed's roommate, Sabine, doesn't like Noelle. And the feeling seems to be mutual. Noelle snubs Sabine and hustles Reed off for some private talk. Reed's boyfriend, Josh, is upset that Noelle is back and is afraid that she will bring out the worst side of Reed.

Reed is in shock at how, almost overnight, people she never spoke to have taken the time to acknowledge her, and bestow gifts upon her. But with her new presidency and popularity comes a price. Cheyenne's family was going to be sponsoring the Legacy (invitation-only elite party for the important prep school people) but with her death, the Legacy has been cancelled. Or so the students of Easton believed. Then someone receives an email from off-campus with the easily recognizable Legacy invitation. Everyone looks to Reed for guidance.

Reed is determined to find out who is sponsoring the Legacy now, and to secure invitations for those that have been snubbed. With the help of Noelle and the rest of Billings, Reed travels into New York City to track down the anonymous party planner.

Will the elite of Easton get to the famous Legacy party? Will Reed convince Josh that Noelle is not up to no good? And will the local police decide once and for all if Cheyenne really committed suicide - or was it more sinister?

Ms. Brian continues the PRIVATE series with much suspense and dark humor. This series is similar to the IT GIRL series, but with more intrigue and backstabbing. Once you pick up one of the books in the series, you'll be drawn in and have to find out how all the rich kids live and play in the private school setting. ( )

Caution: This review contains spoilers!

Reed and the rest of the Billings Girls are back in Legacy, book six of the Private Series. They are mourning the loss of Cheyenne and trying to get answers to their questions surrounding her suicide. This is the second death on the Easton campus and the question is how can tragedy strike the sheltered and the elite?

Cheyenne was president of Billings House prior to her death. Now that the presidency is vacant, only one Billings Girl seems appropriate to replace her: Reed. The same day Reed accepts the nomination, a surprise awaits her. Noelle is back at Easton Academy.

Meanwhile, Halloween approaches and it’s time for the Legacy. There’s just one problem: the Easton students have been blackballed. And no one knows why. Now that Reed is president, it’s up to her to get everyone invites. As much as she enjoys being president of Billings House, Reed also learns it comes with a price. ( )

Easton Academy seems like the place where everyone wants to be. The place where beautiful people congregate to get an education that doesn't just include what you can learn from a book; but, rather, what you can learn from corrupting incoming students, bribing teachers with money, power, and affluence, and, if required, killing someone.

But people don't always last at Easton. Noelle is gone. Ariana is gone. Kiran is gone. Taylor is gone. And now, even the perky Cheyenne Martin can no longer be seen traipsing the hallways of Easton. The only one left standing is scholarship student Reed Brennan.

Cheyenne Martin's suicide is a shock for everyone at Easton Academy, especially for Reed Brennan. Who would have thought that the ambitious, power-hungry and traditionalist Billings girl would take her own life after she is expelled? But Reed feels undeniable guilt. Apparently, Cheyenne had sent her an e-mail before she killed herself, blaming Reed for her decision to kill herself. As if that weren't bad enough, it appears that Cheyenne had arranged for the e-mail to be re-sent every Friday.

Cheyenne is immediately forgotten -- at least by the other Billings girls -- when Easton students are ostracized and snubbed from this year's Legacy, the biggest and most highly-expected exclusive party of the year. Reed shows a great deal of leadership, which is why, in an unanimous vote, she becomes the president of Billings House. As the new Billings president, Reed suddenly has access to power she never imagined. Gossip is reported to her immediately, she has first dibs on everything from dining tables to dorm rooms, and Billings's most powerful alumnae are at her beck and call.

There is, like the other books, a huge twist at the end. I don't think I will ever get tired of the Private series. Legacy is fantastic and quite different from the first few simply because Reed is in charge and is trying to stay sane while being a Noelle. Let's just hope Reed's presidency of Billings is more of a blessing than a curse.

It was a little harder to empathize wih the major conflict in this book... the Billings Girls got snubbed from the Legacy party? Seriously, this is the major conflict in their lives? But it was still well written and the pages flew by. The ending is another cliffhanger so I'm sure I'll have to read the next one and see what the heck happened!!?? ( )
