A fun and engrossing tale about impending war between Mars and Earth. Sci-Fi lends itself so well to the short story form, and this is a solid example. It has an intriguing concept and uses it fully, without requiring too many huge twists or grandiose statements to justify the story. Plus, there's a free version for Kindle, so I recommend checking it out. The Crystal Crypt is a science fiction short story by Philip K Dick and was first published in the US magazine Planet Stories, January 1952. The Crystal Crypt tells the story of the very last Mars to Earth space flight, an mass evacuation that took place after hostilities broke out on the Red planet. Of course the last ship isn't going to leave easily, not when the black-clad Leiters are on the prowl. A great little Philip K Dick short story, and one that has a genuine surprise plot twist and a great ending. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

The story has technologically advanced devices, their purpose made clear without being overly described; a testament to Dick's command of ideas into prose.
The Martians, black-clad and armed with fire-sticks and wry scowls, are clearly a military-state. The passengers, Terrans of Earth, are civilian and more down to earth.
Action, intrigue and science fiction all rolled into one - what is not to love? ( )
