This book is deeply creepy, and tragically orchestrated, and so well written. It's very obviously her first book and her next two showed me what she learned from this experience. But I was still deeply engrossed in this novel, and it's realistic point, from the middle of the first chapter. ( ) So. Quietly awesome. Nice testament to how spectacularly badly grown-ups can screw up. And to the resilience and hidden strength of youths. And many other things besides. For the most part I was pissed off - at adults, at parents. I was FURIOUS. Mostly because young people can't trust adults to be sane and reasonable and actually willing to listen - and to hear. (No offence to those with awesome parents. I'm sure your specimen truly do exist. But sadly, mine are nowhere near.) Also because of existence of such camps. And brainwashable kids to some degree too. It made me MAD and incredibly sad. I loved the cast of characters - so colourful! But the ending was rushed. And the V situation felt a little anticlimactic. Forgiveness was way too quick. Many things left with a huge question mark hanging over them VERDICT:. TRY IT! 3.5 stars. This was a very decent read. It was short, and yet managed to be really touching. I was intrigued by the concept, by Brit's perspective, by the harsh circumstances she suddenly finds herself under. This book deals with so many things; it's about friendship, and courage, and individualism, about self-esteem and love and life, and even a tiny bit about insanity. I think what made me give this book only 3 stars, is that I was somewhat "disappointed" - for lack of a better word! - by the ending. Don't get me wrong: The story concluded on a very satisfying note, if somewhat predictable. It was a decent ending, only it didn't blow me away. After everything had been going so wrong for so long, things just seemed to suddenly all fall into place very neatly. I couldn't buy it, not all the way. But I liked the book over-all, I liked the characters. I only wish it would have been a little longer, perhaps, to give me more time to really delve into the problems and dilemmas of the girls, to explore their helplessness further, so as to appreciate their well-earned freedom all the more when they at last achieved it... nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

HTML: The very first novel by the #1 New York Times bestselling author of If I Stay now has a beautiful new cover. Sisters in Sanity is a story of sisterhood and self-discovery that's perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen, Morgan Matson, and Siobhan Vivian. Britt Hemphill doesn't know who she can trust. Her free-spirit mother has disappeared, and her father, once Britt's partner in crime, has remarried and shipped her off to Red Rock, a so-called treatment facility for troubled girls. And the counselors at Red Rock? They're completely insane. Britt's horror at the "therapy"â??vicious name-calling and grueling physical laborâ??is second only to her hatred for the backstabbing patients, who win privileges by ratting each other out. But when V, Bebe, Martha, and Cassie, the four girls who keep Britt from going over the edge, help her sneak out to go see Jeb, her maybe-more-than-friends bandmate, she starts to believe that there may actually be people who can help herâ??and people that she can help by taking down Red Rocks. Sisters in Sanity perfectly captures the feeling of being trapped in a world that refuses to understand youâ??and fightin Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
