The third entry in the Jetlag series of parodies of travel guides. To be honest I would have thought the authors would have run out of jokes by now but there's still some quite funny moments scattered throughout "San Sombrero", especially for those who spent/are spending their life travelling through the developing world.

I particularly liked the line about the San Sombrero man who is the only Nobel Peace Prize laureate to be charged with war crimes, thinking at the time how unlikely that would be, but Aung San Suu Kyi may yet equal his feat. ( )

Very silly and enjoyable. Down to the randomly boldfaced nouns in the text, it has the Rough Guide/Frommer's travel prose down pitch-perfect. ( )

Another fantastic book from the Jetlag books series of spoof travel guides. Just as funny and ridiculous as the previous two. Loved it! ( )

This was a hilarious read from start to finish. A great take on the more conventional (and authentic!) travel guides that have become so fashionable over recent years. Also picks up and satirises brilliantly so many aspects to travelling - the locals, the tourism gymics, the other travellers you meet. The attention to detail is fantastic - right up to the particular road names included on the maps.... so funny. A great gift idea for anyone id say. ( )
