One night Brett is called in on a case and he retrieves Cassie from her situation what he expects is a scared woman ready to go, but what he finds is an abused Cassie that is strong and ready to fight for her life. After Cassie is sent on her way to safety Brett finds it hard to let her go, she’s never far from his mind but he has to let it go and hope she is living her best life. Years later Cassie is back and to her surprise Brett is the one working with her on a work project, but he constantly fights the pull they have and tries to remain aloof. Cassie is strong, works hard, and is determined to get what she wants and that is Brett. As they dance around their attraction Cassie learns so much about the brothers and how hard their lives have been, and it makes her fall even more for Brett. This book was steamy, suspenseful, emotional, and a great start to what I know will be an amazing series. ( )
