A sleazy preacher/banker is killed by a crooked cop who then chases after the preacher's wife who participated with a small gang in robbing her husbands bank of a million. The crooked cop intends to keep the money for himself. Cicero Grimes is a promising character that I was hoping would out do the crooked cop, which is what sort of happens. But less than 100 pages into the story begins a long section describing the mind games the cop was playing on Grimes. The story is then dominated by the maudlin psychological states of Cicero particularly concerning his brother. At the end, even the cop turn maudlin. There is plenty of violence and nasty descriptions of the bodily fluids that result from violent death. But the main impression of this book is maudlin boo-hoo psychology. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

TWO BROTHERS: Cicero Grimes - freelance psychiatrist and one-man detox unit in America's white trash Deep South; and Luther Grimes - bad news Vietnam veteran and smack dealer. They hate each other, and only they know why. EX-HOOKER AND COKE HEAD: Callie Carter is on the run - with one million dollars stolen from her evangelist husband's bank. CORRUPT, SADISTIC POLICE CAPTAIN Clarence Jefferson wants to get his hands on the preacher's money. But even more, he wants to break Cicero apart, to find out the real reason why he has spent years hunting his brother like a mad dog. BAD CITY BLUES - Tim Willock's breathtaking first novel is raw, powerful, unforgettable. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
