It's a great first paranormal romance novel- I've read all her contemporary romances and they always tug on my heart. Love incorporating werewolves (my favorite) and vampires in a Romeo and Juliet type romance with slightly less tragedy.. Can't wait for the next one! ( ) Recommended: sure if you're interested For a little bit of a mystery mixed with the paranormal lore, for romance that's distinctly interspecies without getting too weird, for a good time while you read it but that probably won't leave a big impression after Thoughts: Took a risk with this one for a group buddy read. In the end it was solidly... Ok. I enjoyed it while reading it and it didn't take long to get through, but now that I've finished it and a day or two has passed, I don't think I'll really have it on my mind for much longer. Ultimately I feel like there wasn't a lot there, like there was a layer of ice thick enough for me to walk on and carry through the story, but if I had fallen through that ice it would have just been water below. Nothing substantial. Also, paranormal interspecies sex with the obligatory kinks that go with it are not really my thing and that definitely held me at arm's length through this. 😅 The mystery investigation aspect of this was certainly more of my interest and focus, though again, if I drilled it down to just the plot points for that it would only be five or six bullet points of key scenes. 🤷â€â™€ï¸ The friendship that we see through memories and flashbacks of Misery and Serena were quite welcome, and I'm really happy that they were the strongest thread through this. It's rare for other people to truly matter in a story that has a focus on the romantic relationships. Usually friends get demoted to some kind of 2D foil or supporting character, but in this one Serena felt real and present even though she wasn't. xD As for the resolutions and revelations, I was not very surprised by most of it, and that was fine. It was going where I thought it was going, and that made sense because it was the path that was laid out. Still, if you're in this for a crazy twist or complex reveal, you're in the wrong place. So overall, yeah if you're interested go for it! It probably won't blow you away, but it probably won't really disappoint either. It'll be a fine thing to read and you'll enjoy doing it and then probably never think about it again. And honestly I think that's how most books are so it's not really a condemnation here. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

"A dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance from the New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis. Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast-again. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange. Again. Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It's clear from the way he tracks Misery's every movement that he doesn't trust her. If only he knew how right he was.... Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she's ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what's hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory...alone with the wolf"-- Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
