I did not think this was the best children's book because I don't think it gave kids the best message. The story is about three billy goats who are out of grass to eat on their hill so they want to go to the hill on the other side of the bridge. Unfortunately there is a troll who won't let the goats across so the billy goats come up with a plan to trick the troll into letting the two younger billy goats by and then the oldest billy goats pushes the troll in the water to cross the bridge. I don't think the message this story should be sending to children is if someone is mean to you, push them, Other than that, the book wasn't too bad. The author used descriptive language. For example, he was very descriptive when describing the troll. He wrote, "He was green, with a great big head and a bright red nose. There were worts on his chin and his terrible teeth were long and pointy and yellow. And he was very smelly." The illustrations were also nice. There were a good mix between real life and fairytale. Also the illustrations matched the descriptions that were given for the troll and billy goats. The billy goats were described by their size (small, medium, and large) and you could tell which goat was which. ( )
