Refugees face many savage hardships and cold is one of them, both cold weather and cold reception of cold hearts. Neil Gaiman extends some warmth. ( )

Such a sweet, lovely, and heart-warming poem. I love how many illustrators came together to make the pages beautiful. Definitely recommend for your bookish friends as a Christmas / holiday gift. ( )

New Year's Day family picture book read-aloud celebration! (Book 2 of 5)

One of those books I can respect for the important work it is doing to bring attention to the plight of refugees and the work of the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, but it is still a bland poem that is boring to read.

There are some nice pictures at least, and it is sort of interesting to read how the illustrators chose to create their individual images.

A found poem, constructed from responses to Gaiman;s asking people what they needed to be warm, in both a literal and metaphorical sense. Each page spread is illustrated by a different artist, in the same limited colour palette of greys & orange. There's a couple of pages of commentary by the artists and they explain what they were aiming for in their illustration. Profits go to UNHCR. ( )

I feel like I need to just learn my lesson with Gaiman. Everything I read of his is just fine and yet I keep finding his stuff on my TBR. ( )
