Laurel lives in the city, is the social media manager for a tourism magazine, and also runs the social media for her sister’s farm. Through an unintentional misunderstanding, her new boss thinks she owns the farm. Unwilling to come clean with her boss and jeopardize her job, she never corrects the misunderstanding. Now it’s nearly Christmas, her boss is having an emotional breakdown due to his wife leaving him, and he sort of invites himself to see Laurel in action on her farm, for “Christmas Eve Eve.” Now, she must enlist the help of her sister and her sister’s family to go along with the charade. To further complicate matters, Max, a man she has reason to detest but who is a friend of her brother-in-law, is also there. And then, a super snowstorm hits, and no one can leave until after Christmas. If you have watched the movie Christmas in Connecticut, you will see a few similar themes, but little is the same, other than someone trying to be pretend to be something she is not. The characters are interesting, especially the boss. Readers will guess how the story ends, after all, it is a Christmas romance, but there are enough struggles in keeping up the pretense and in Max and Laurel coming to terms with each other to keep readers invested in the story. ( ) A cute read to kick off the holiday season. Laurel works at an Ohio magazine, penning a column about her simple and crafty farm life, complete with goats. The only problem is that life actually belongs to her twin sister. When her boss Gilbert is dumped right at Christmas, her twin Holly (and hubby) agree to let him come to their Christmas Eve Eve dinner and continue Laurel's subterfuge. Her brother-in-law even convinces his friend Max to stand in as Laurel's husband. A snowstorm forces the charade to last much longer--chaos and fun ensue. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
"Laurel Grant works as the social media manager for Buckeye State of Mind, an Ohio tourism magazine and website. She is most definitely not an owner of a farm--specifically, the owner of her twin sister Holly's farm just outside of Columbus--but she lets her boss think she is. Laurel only handles the social media for the farm, but she's happy to keep her little white lie going. And keep it going she must, when Gilbert--recently dumped by his wife--invites himself over for the farm's big holiday dinner (as advertised on Meadow Rise Farm's Instagram, thanks to Laurel herself). Laurel immediately goes into panic mode to figure out how she can trick Gilbert into thinking she's basically the Martha Stewart of rural Ohio and keep her job in the process. Laurel and Holly come up with a plan: all Laurel has to do is pretend to own the farm for one dinner. But when Laurel shows up at the farm, an unwelcome guest is there: Max Beckett, her nemesis since Holly's wedding. The annoyingly attractive man she hates will be posing as Laurel's husband just for the evening, but when a snowstorm traps them all for the entire weekend, Laurel is going to have to figure out how to survive with her job and dignity intact. Whatever the case, this promises to be the most eventful Christmas in ages."-- Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
