The back cover condensed this story line pretty well: "Destiny joined them as children - held hostage by the fugitive John Wilkes Booth, reunited a decade later, are their days still numbered?" This sums up the life of Rya Garrett and McClain Reardon pretty well, but there is A LOT that goes on from their childhood to adulthood. The book starts in 1865 and gives a good detailed account of what went on right after President Abraham Lincoln got shot.

Flash forward many years with both Rya and McClain going in very different directions and watch their lives and then watch how the Lord brings them together. It is a very full book and I always like surprises, but didn't think I was going to like the ending in this story; but without ruining the ending, I will just say, don't give up the faith!
