Episodes
1. Spoils of War - The Bad Batch go to Serenno to retrieve a valuable treasure that once belonged to Count Dooku. A fun first-part of the season premiere with some callbacks to The Clone Wars, but it's nothing incredibly special. (4.0)
2. Ruins of War - Omega, Echo, and Tech meet with a local who helps them in their skirmish with the Empire. When Vice Admiral Rampart learns of the Batch's survival, he makes sure there are no loose ends. A bit of a step-up in storytelling that sets the stage for the dark times to come in this season, doing some things I didn't really expect to be done. (4.0)
3. The Solitary Clone - Crosshair and Commander Cody go to a Separatist world to help squash a growing rebellion. It's great to see Cody back, and we get some real old-school Clone Wars action -- except it's for the Empire as opposed to the Republic. And the tragedy only continues with the events therein. One of the best episodes of the whole series. (5.0)
4. Faster - Tech, Wrecker, and Omega must work together to win a race in order to free Cid after she is held captive over unpaid debts. A fun, side episode that has very good foreshadowing and ties to later episodes -- with some subtle cues that hit a lot harder watching this post-season finale. (4.5)
5. Entombed - The Bad Batch join Phee Genoa, a friend of Cid, on an archaeological mission. There are some cool nods and familiarities to Raiders of the Lost Ark, but that's about all I really enjoyed in the episode. It probably didn't help I had a splitting headache while watching this episode, but it truly felt like a dull, boring chore to get through. Easily a skippable episode in the season. (2.5)
6. Tribe - A young Wookiee Jedi named Gungi is rescued by the Bad Batch, and they attempt to help him reconnect with other Wookiees on his homeworld of Kashyyyk. Unfortunately, Imperial-funded Trandoshans are laying waste to the Wookiee homeland. A great episode; it is isolated from the main story, but it's certainly not a bad filler. It's great to see Gungi and Kashyyyk again, and we get some cool references to the unmade second Bad Batch arc from The Clone Wars. All in all a fun episode that gives an offshoot adventure. (4.5)
7. The Clone Conspiracy - Senator Riyo Chuchi seeks to aid the clone troopers in the aftermath of a bill that will see them phased out in favor of recruited soldiers. However, things are not as they seem as attempts are taken on her life and those of clones seeking to escape the Empire. This is how the politically conspiratorial episodes of The Clone Wars should have been; there's a great deal of political intrigue paired with some good old clone action. (5.0)
8. Truth and Consequences - Captain Rex enlists the help of the Bad Batch to scour a dismantled Star Destroyer for information regarding the destruction of Kamino to help Chuchi's Senate efforts. The stakes are only raised here, as a malevolent force makes his presence felt, and felt it is. (5.0)
9. The Crossing
10. Retrieval
11. Metamorphosis - Dr. Royce Hemlock takes command of the Imperial efforts to revitalize their cloning initiative as a young Zillo beast escapes captivity, forcing the Bad Batch to intervene. A fun episode that calls back to The Clone Wars heavily, as well as introducing a lot of interesting concepts and setups. (4.5)
12. The Outpost - Crosshair is sent to reinforce an outpost on a snowy world, where he gets a grim revelation of the Empire's treatment of the clones. Another highlight in not just this series, but in all of Star Wars, both animation and otherwise, of all time. One of the highlights of the Disney era, period. (5.0)
13. Pabu
14. Tipping Point - Echo and several other clones, including Gregor, help rescue captive clones from the Empire and uncover data to find more kidnapped soldiers before rejoining the Batch. Meanwhile, Crosshair attempts to escape the Empire, only to be caught in Hemlock's trap. The beginning of what appears to be a solid season finale. (4.5)
15. The Summit - The Bad Batch infiltrate an Imperial summit on Eriadu to learn of where Hemlock is keeping Crosshair captive. More great action that pulls in numerous callbacks from previous episodes, making those "filler" stories come to fruition, an art Filoni has mastered and proven to be more than competent at. (5.0)
16. Plan 99 - Tragedy strikes the Batch as they struggle to escape Eriadu and the watchful, nefarious eye of Hemlock. One of the most grief-inducing episodes of The Bad Batch thus far, and definitely home to one of the most emotional moments of the series and, frankly, Star Wars animation. A spectacular season finale that leaves me excited and beyond ready for the inevitable Season 3. (5.0)
