"In a beautifully written, science-packed debut memoir, Egyptian-American astrophysicist Sarafina El-Badry Nance shares her personal story of resilience and liberation by grounding herself in her lifelong love of the stars. As a child, Sarafina El-Badry Nance spent nearly every evening with her father gazing up at the flickering stars and pondering what secrets the night sky held. A seemingly unending number of horrible things happen to the author, then the book ends with a saccharine epilogue that I didn't have the stomach to read after getting through 300 pages of heartache. After reading this book, I had to go to the dust jacket to find out what the author actually does these days. ( )
