I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Growing up, I loved the show Warehouse 13, and was so sad when it ended. When I read that this book was urban fantasy with Warehouse 13 and the Librarians vibes, I knew that I had to read it. It definitely gave me major nostalgia to some of my favorite tv shows, but with the urban fantasy vibes of a KM Shea or Linsey Hall book. While it was missing the soft romance of these authors, it had the fun whimsical supernatural vibe present in their stories. I did find that the pacing was a bit slow in the beginning, and it took a while for things to really get started. Then, at the end, things moved really quickly—jumping from location and task at rapid speed. While this definitely helped build the tension, I do wish things were spread out a bit more and that things kicked off a bit sooner. Warehouse 13 and the Librarians are notoriously go go go from the start. If you are going to compare yourself to these Series, you need to meet that energy. However, while things took a while to build, it was definitely worth the wait and it was a great start to a new series. I can’t wait to read the next book, and see what Paige and Dewey get up to next! Set aside an entire long day for this exciting family-friendly contemporary adventure in which 34-year-old orphan (and new librarian at Shadow Harbor Public Library) Paige Turner with her researcher Dewey Decimael handle M. I received a copy of this book from the author through Librarything Early Reviewers.Paige Turner finds a job as a librarian in Shadow Harbor. Her archivist turns out to be a small teal dragon Dewey Decimael. Together they neet to retreive and shelve magical artifacts. We don't know much about Paige's past, except that she's an orpan, left outside a convent when she was a baby. Dewey comes from a family of large dragons. Their banter is great and they work quite well together. The first half of the book is them getting to know each other and Paige getting used to the idea of werewolves, vampires and such. The second half is pure action from start ot end. At first I found it hard to get into the story. The writing style was way too descriptive for me. Paige was constantly adjusting her glasses. But then the action started and I began to enjoy the ride. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. I had never read this author before, and I adore books about librarians, so I had to give this one a try. Paige is a very down-on-her-luck character at times, and I would love to learn more about her background as I feel we didn’t learn enough. She really came alive, though, when she began her new job as an archivist in the library. Dewey is also a great sidekick, and they have a fun adventure together. I kinda wish we had gotten to see more of Ronnie and maybe a few more characters, but I’m looking forward to the next one. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
