What better opportunity to put a bullet in Dan Tyler's heart than being his trusted wife? Murder is Jenny Linden's motive in answering the former prison guard's ad for a mail order bride. She's ready to avenge her father's death in a Confederate prison camp. Packing her purse with a revolver -- and a Bible, to convey a false identity -- she sets out to Winslow, Arizona, to marry him, kill him, sell his ranch, and return a rich woman. Can the light of love break into the darkness of Jenny's schemes? Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

In this story it is 1864 and Jenny Linden and her Mom are anxiously awaiting the war to be over so Captain William Linden can be released from the Andersonville, Georgia prison camp and be reunited with his wife and daughter. Confederate prison guard Dan Tyler has a good reputation at the prison camp, but somebody hates him and Captain Linden and will do anything for revenge. When her loved ones die, Jenny seeks revenge herself, but who she is after and her deep seated hatred is hard to believe. She will become a mail order bride with ulterior motives in mind.
I liked the way Tyler shared his faith with one of his friends when they were talking about the war and believers on both sides fighting each other. He said, "We know that God is in control, Willie. He has a plan, and in that plan, He allows war, just like He allowed Cain to murder Abel. He has a purpose for everything He does and allows, and we must trust in the Lord with all our hearts, and lean not unto our own understanding. One thing for sure: we know that all things work together for good to them who love God. On this earth we may never know the reason that God allowed this Civil War, but while we're here, we know that all things are working together for the good of God's children. Right now, I can't see beyond this disease-infested prison camp, but the Lord is already in my future, just waiting for me to get there." As Willie replied, we just need to leave our lives in His powerful hands. This is what I like about the author. She writes a very good Christian romance, with history written in and I have enjoyed this series very much. It opened my eyes to a whole different look on the whole mail order bride situation back in the 1800s. (
