Kyle and Rylie have been best friends since they were little kids and as they got older they were always inseparable. The only problem is Rylie has always been in love with him yet he never acted like he knew so she kept it hidden. She knew he was her one and only but things start change once he becomes more involved with the things his uncle does. Rylie starts to realize that she is slowly losing her best friend as more time passes by she does anything to hold on to their friendship even if at times they go several days without speaking because he does something to make her angry. Kyle’s life has never really been easy with a dad that treated him like second best while doting on his older brother he turned to his uncle and after seeing his uncle in action he knew this was his one thing he could do. In following in his uncle’s footsteps he found this was one thing he was good at then it became something he had to do to support his mother but now it was eating away at his soul and he had to become something else entirely. Years go by after the most beautiful night they had together and then Kyle ghosted her yet Rylie still finds herself pining for him while hating him. She never got anything no answers, no closure, nothing and now Kyle is back but he is making to easier to hate him. When Kyle returns it’s with plans of his own and a game he has to play but now he thinks Rylie never waited on him so he does everything he can to try to get a reaction out of her yet it doesn’t work until she forces his hand. When they come to an agreement that will benefit them both its hard to fight the feelings that they both have lingering. There are so many twists turns and people out to harm them but if they stand together they can weather the storm unless the pain from the past and secrets destroy them. This book is full of angst and emotions that have you craving to see what happens next and the ride to never end. You know these two belong together but with so much history and pain they have a very long road of obstacles to wade through. Kyle aka The joker is incredible the way he can switch from being the Kyle everyone loves to the Joker who everyone fears. Rylie finds her strength but will it be for saving herself or standing by Kyle’s side to prove she can and he deserves her? I loved this book, the characters, and the emotions that felt so real and raw that it stayed with me for days. I couldn’t stop thinking about it and had to reread it over and over again. This is my first read by the author and I am a huge fan, can’t wait to read more. ( )
