Book 11, my last DI Helen Grace book. Thank goodness, there's a new one being published in July and I've already pre-ordered it from England! Once, I took care of that, I was able to read this book. Once again, M.J. Arlidge grabs your attention on the first page and you just have to hang on as DI Grace leads the investigation to find a ruthless killer. In addition, she has to watch her back with a boss who wants her out and a psychopath looking for revenge. Such a great series! ( )

A killer is stalking the well-to-do areas of Southampton, breaking in with impunity and murdering the defenceless. For DI Grace and her team there is a race to catch the perpetrator before they strike again and they think they have their man. However it's not so simple and Grace is also having to watch her back professionally and personally.
A new addition to this series of novels is always a treat to look forward to. Arlidge is a master at writing gritty and addictive crime novels with a contemporary setting and (relatively) believable characters and this is no exception. I am a huge fan ( )

Inspecteur Helen Grace is een unieke persoonlijkheid. Doortastend, onstuimig, niet bang voor risico's en volkomen toegedaan aan de zaken waar ze aan werkt. Haar team is haar trouw en doet heel veel, zo niet alles, voor haar. Maar door haar houding strijkt ze haar meerdere, in dit boek is dat Alan Peters, een man met een enorme hekel aan Helen. Hij wil haar het liefst uit het politiekorps zetten.
Als er in een paar dagen tijd twee moorden plaatsvinden op volkomen onschuldige mensen, een jong moeder en een tiener jongen, doet het team er alles aan om de moordenaar te vinden. Er zijn veel mogelijkheden en ook als lezer wordt je vaak op het verkeerde been gezet, maar dat is het allemaal waard.
