I received a free advanced copy of this book from the LibraryThing Early Reviewers giveaway in exchange for an honest review.A charming retelling of a memorial scene from L.M. Montgomery’s "Anne of Green Gables." This is the 4th in the early reader series and tells the story of when Anne holds a tea party where she accidentally gives her friend Diana currant wine. Diana of course gets drunk and her mother forbids her from seeing Anne again until Anne saves Diana’s sister from a horrible fever. It’s a very well done retelling and can be understood as a stand alone story. I would recommend young readers read the first few books in the series to better understand who the characters are, especially how Anne came to live with the Cuthberts. Overall, a great introduction to the well loved story of Anne Shirley. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. This is a beautiful adaptation of a much beloved Anne escapade, making it a perfect bedtime story. There is just enough 'background' added in for new readers to understand each character, but there is also just the right tone and knowing nods for longtime fans to smile at too. The friendship between the girls takes center stage with a warm glow of the family Anne is building at Green Gables as well. Each page is sweetly illustrated with soft, whimsical-woodsy scenes that hold even young listeners attentive. Though it is the 4th in this retelling series, each story may stand on its own. A lovely way to introduce this Canadian classic to young, new readers. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. This is a charmingly illustrated and delightful retelling of one of the more memorable events in "Anne of Green Gables": the tea party where Anne accidentally gets Diana Barrett drunk on currant wine.
This is one book in a series and would be perfect for a younger reader not ready for the novel yet. It's more like a easy reader for a child in an older elementary grades.
Adapting stories featuring a beloved character like Anne Shirley is not an easy task. Readers have strong feelings and opinions but I think the spirit of Anne and her world have been respectfully handled in this series.Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. Anne loves having pretend tea parties by herself. She even decorates her room with branches and colourful leaves for the occasion. Marilla Cuthbert, who adopted Anne in the last year, wishes Anne would act a little more sensibly. One day, Marilla comes up with a plan to keep Anne out of mischief — Anne can host her very own tea party and invite her kindred spirit, Diana Barry! Anne is thrilled, and sets out to host the most lovely and grown-uppish tea party she can muster. But when she makes Diana sick by accidentally giving her the wrong drink, Diana’s mother is furious. Can Anne be forgiven? Will she ever be allowed to play with Diana again? Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
