It started out very interesting but then fizzled completely with MMC being a piece of soggy toast- “I’ll talk to X about it” (usually something dramatic or illegal). ( )

Despite Kellum being so oblivious that I wanted to punch him in the face for most of the book, I really liked this story because Shay is written so well, and I loved her daughter Mia. Kellum's brothers are mostly fine, but his parents and his uncle are the worst. The story is intriguing, using the wrong-side-of-the-tracks trope as well as small-town crime (Kellum is a cop). It's well-written and I want to continue the series. ( )

Great start to what I hope is a spin-off series. I enjoyed how this book tied into the MC series. I lied seeing some of the previous characters, especially, Dina. I really liked how the author writes about Autism. She keeps it authentic and handles it with care.

There were a few areas that I wish had been fleshed out more but because I enjoyed the characters and their interactions it all balanced out. ( )
