Mister Grumpf is a close cousin to Ryan T. Higgins' Mother Bruce: a big ol' grump with a heart of gold. He drops what he's doing to help all the other animal friends in the forest. When he finally returns home, he finds his front door completely obscured by a giant pile of leaves. In a fit of anger, he breaks his broom and stomps away to cool off under a tree; meanwhile, his friends help him out in return for his help earlier.

Lovely autumnal color palette; landscape orientation; a mixture of panels on each page (sometimes just one, sometimes as many as five).

Poor Mister Grumpf just wants one thing. He just wants to clean up his leaves but his neighbors are so needy they can't see how much of a pain they are. I related to Mister Grumpf so much. This was a cute book for kids. Glad I was able to read.
