Into the Storm #6
Excellent story that, I believe wraps up this series...unless...the men on the mission in the prologue end up having a reunion someday.
Claire Kendall couldn’t wait to get out of Monroe and once she did she didn’t look back. Sure, she stayed in touch with her mother and sister but she had no desire to go back to the town she was miserable in. When her Claire hears of her sister’s death she is there for her nephew, Nick, as soon as possible. She has a plan that does not include staying in Monroe...but that is not Nick’s plan and as his mental health takes priority she agrees to stay...for awhile.
When Nick comes home wanting to join the high school football team she is not in favor – not even a little bit. After meeting Coach Tucker Hall she begins to consider the idea and Nick does get to be on the team.
When Nick mentions that he doesn’t believe his mother’s death was an accident it opens a can of worms that more than one in town wants to keep the lid on and t hat means trouble for Claire.
What I liked:
* Claire – her love for Nick is inspiring. I also liked her strength and ability to handle herself with difficult men.
* Tucker – my, oh my...a good man and a fun one that I think is perfect for Claire.
* Nick – what a challenge his life has been. Losing his mother and wanting to fit in and not knowing what will happen in his life as he goes forward is a heavy load for a fifteen year old. I like him – maybe he can have a book of his own in the future?
* The romance between Tucker and Claire – there is instant attraction but they let it simmer for a bit and that is good – and their conversations put a smile on my face more than once.
* The slow realization of Claire that Monroe as an adult is different than it was when she was a child...or her perception of it is
* That Claire and Tucker had Nick’s best interest at heart
* All of it really...except…
What I didn’t like:
* The ruthless killer – what a creep!
* Hmm...can’t think of anything else :)
