"Corrupt the young. Get them away from religion. Encourage their interest in sex...."--Vladimir Lenin, 1921, How to Destroy the West Going through each of the prophetic statements made by Lenin in 1921 shows why America is where it is today. Only 4 percent of Gen Z think about life through a biblical lens. To them, sexuality is more important than friends, family, or their faith. Jeff Grenell's goal in Gen SeXYZ: Love, Sexuality & Youth is to reach youth, youth leaders, families, and the church with a message that responds to the sexual revolution tsunami and restores sexuality to its God-given origins. When the church failed to respond to the sexual revolution of the 1960s and the present one of the 21st century, its role in society crumbled. The media stopped censoring, the government redefined marriage, schools taught progressive sex education, and the list of genders grew. Jeff provides practical knowledge and tools to launch a spiritual revolution of love and truth that will grow the church to reach younger generations and combat the loveless, godless sexuality ethic in our culture that's misleading them.… (altro)

This is an easy pick up and read book on questions of sexuality that Gen Z is dealing. This would be the perfect resource for a youth pastor, parent, or even a high school student that wants to look at these questions from a biblical perspective.

Although I understand about the sexual revolution, I believe that we are to love each other and listen to each with grace. There is no but in that sentence because God calls us to love each other. He doesn’t say love each other unless they are different. I have a GenZ son. He is very vocal about his beliefs and I have come to understand his views a bit more. The enemy will do anything he can to take our youth. When my son was around sixteen he was at a Wednesday night youth meeting, He had just come back from a mission trip and was on fire for God. That night at the meeting two youth leaders were discussing a sensitive topic and mocking the group they were referring to. My son came home , told us what happened and refused to go back. He had lost trust in those who were suppose be be mentoring. Those moments gave my son a realization that he would always belief what the Bible says and not listen to those who mock others.

In this book I find an author who is open and honest. He is not ashamed of his brother and I applaud that. As I shared about my son, I was astounded that a youth leader would blatantly mock while being in a group that he was ministering to. I can understand how the youth today has walked away from religion. They have heard judgment on others and for them that is not acceptable.

I think the book makes valid points and always refers to making sure we listen to each other. This would be an excellent book for every youth leader, pastor and parent. It should be available at all times for use in a setting when ministering to youth. They want to be heard, understood and accepted. I agree with the author that some twist scriptures in order to make their point in their favor. I learned the hard way to be careful who ministers to your child. I now know that I need to listen to my son more and act on his behalf. I appreciate a book that tackles the hard issues and explains them in love.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion. ( )
