But I Don't Want to Say Goodbye is a sad but informative picture book for kids narrated by an unnamed narrator who has suddenly lost her father and is preparing for his funeral. Her mother plans a memorial service for her dad and then uses his cremated ashes to create a reef ball in order to honor his environmental activism. Though a heartbreaking and heavy topic, this book is perfect for children who have just lost a close family member and for those who have questions about how we honor the dead and what we do to cope both short and long term.
