This is a very nice book for new readers. The story i about all the animals of a barn getting read to go to bed and the moon being the guiding light for them. The book goes from numbers one through ten and counts out different animals and there is a star above each one so that new reader can count along with the book. Overall a lovely book that you can read to your child before bedtime. ( )

When the Moon Smiled is a cute counting book that can double as an introduction on nocturnal and diurnal animals. The farm animals who should have been asleep were awake while the animals who should have been awake were still asleep. The moon does his duty and makes everything right. He lights a star for each animal that needs to go to sleep or be awake. The illustrations are cute and the book features cutouts for the stars. Great for a younger crowd. ( )
