Biography by Laura Numeroff. Her life story, how she came into writing children's books, rejections and successes, If You Give a Mouse a Cookies conception. Also has pictures of her, at home, with her pets, etc... Classroom: Great book for an author study and introducing students to an author before introducing her books, also for the students who may be familiar with her books. Can also show students that success doesn't mean succeeding the first time, may have to try different avenues to find what you like or are good at. "If you give an Author a Pencil" is a book about the life of Laura Numeroff. Her first book came about from a college assignment and was "Amy for Short." Numeroff wrote to an author as a child and now she receives letters from children about her life. The book goes on to talk about her childhood, her studying photography and the long process of writing and publishing books. I enjoyed that she used pictures from her everyday life in the book. I would recommend this book for lessons about biographies. This book gets to the point and covers Laura's whole life. This book would be appropriate for all ages but the reading level s appropriate for 3-5. This story is an Autobiography, written by Laura Numeroff. She is the authors of popular children’s books, such as If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, If You Give a Pig a Pancake, and If You Take a Mouse to School. Numeroff tells her story of her childhood and how her dad inspired her to become an author and an illustrator. She discusses the hard work and determination needed to be a writer; one of her books was turned down eight times before a new editor liked it enough to publish it. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
