This is the first book I’ve read by Sarah Adams and it definitely won’t be the last! I listened to the audiobook version and adored the narrators. Like the title implies, it’s a sweet enemies to lovers story combined with fun pranks. It’s the kind of romcom that has you chuckling out loud one minute and fanning yourself the next. June is a cute, short in stature 29 year old donut shop owner who never quite forgot her enemy from high school, Mr. Darcy aka Ryan Henderson. The day of graduation they almost kissed and June can’t forget that he turned away. Now a successful woman, she’s ready to face her old nemesis at her best friend’s wedding. She’s expecting a dumpy looking guy, but instead, he’s as handsome as ever. Ryan has never forgotten June. In fact, he secretly had a crush on her in high school and has waited for this moment to reconnect with her. He’s an in demand, youngest 3 star Michelin chef, yet, he feels his life is missing something. He thinks his game-playing, sweet enemy from high school might just have the answer. Loved listening to this hilarious, cute romcom! The narrators were perfect and captured the characters expertly. Both the female and male narrators were fabulous and I enjoyed listening to both. Definitely recommend the audiobook version. June and Ryan were such fun characters. I loved their banter and of course the harmless pranks and games they play. Some of the awkward situations they find themselves in had me laughing out loud. June is skeptical of Ryan’s pursuit and she definitely has some trust issues. Ryan is the perfect gentleman yet has that devilish, mischievous side that is hard to resist. Looking forward to reading the other books in the series and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to read a Sarah Adams book! While it’s the second book in the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. As far as content, the romance is clean with nothing more than lots of kissing. Just a few potty words, but no swearing. Mentions of characters getting drunk. I received an advanced audiobook copy of the book through NetGalley. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

It's been twelve years since I've seen him, twelve years since he won our war of wits by outsmarting me with a tactic I didn't even know was allowed. But tonight?I'm going to resurrect the battle. Ryan Henderson is back in town for our best friends' wedding, and I plan on showing him exactly how much I don't care about him-or the almost kiss he ruthlessly dangled over me after graduation. But things have changed since then. I'm a successful bakery owner now, and I plan to rub every delicious detail of my life in his ugly face. There's just one problem: his face is gorgeous. He wasn't supposed to look like this or pursue me like a sexy guided missile. I have to stay strong until the wedding is over and Ryan scurries back into whatever alternate universe he escaped from. His interest in me is nothing but a continuation of the games we played in high school...right? But the longer he stays, the more I wonder if I'm wrong and his tender smile and heated attentions are genuine. Maybe it's not a game. Ha! Who am I kidding? This is Ryan we're talking about. Of course it's a game-a game called war-and this time I will w Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

I saw that this is now being “revised” with a traditional publisher. Idk that I think of that yet. So far, I’m 0/2 on her trad-published books.
August 2020:
I am really conflicted. There were aspects of this book that I really liked and others...not so much.
The writing really stood out to me. The best I can describe it is playful. It was never overbearing or heavy and was full of humor and funny moments. It quickly drew me in.
The plot had me laughing a lot. The characters did all sorts of things and that epilogue--I called it. (and I was right!)
Now, I am in the minority here, but I did not really like Ryan. I felt like he was only there for romance and no other purpose. He was also quite a bit overbearing and I was not a fan of that.
Overall, I probably won't read again but I definitely want to read more of Adams's work simply for the writing style and humor.
