Having forsaken her crown for a chance to save her family, and the world, Vi Solaris washes up on the shores of Meru. She's wounded and barely alive. But Vi's fight for survival is only just beginning.
As a princess in a foreign land, everyone is after her.
The pirate queen Adela wants to sell her to the evil elfin'ra. The Twilight King wants to use her to settle an old score. And, perhaps most dangerous, is the scheming Lord of the Faithful who sees her as an opportunity to further consolidate his power.
The only path for Vi is forward. But she doesn't yet know if she's running toward salvation ... or a brutal end to everything she loves.
Vi's journey continues with even more betrayal, romance, magic, and a twist you never saw coming that leaves readers begging for the next book. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

United at last with Taavin after escaping the pirate Adela, Vi sets out to find new allies and continue the search for her father. Still reeling from a friend's betrayal, the far-from-home princess struggles to reconcile her feelings for Taavin, their roles as Yargen's Voice and Champion, and her ties to her family in the face of the end of the world.
This continuation of the Vortex Chronicles is filled with action, adventure, and angst. Some moments tested by credulity (three people with no sailing experience successfully maneuver a ship), others my sympathy (flip-flopping on emotions), and I haven't decided how to feel about that ending (yes, comparable to that of Fire Falling).
And yet, alongside these scenes were some of the most powerful in the series so far. For the first time, Vi is confident in both sides of her magic, and its neat to see how each of her experiences so far has built her into the person she is becoming. She and Taavin continue to wrestle with being fated to save the world, questioning how much agency they can ever have if they are products of the past and seem fated to arrive at a scripted future.
"You are not cursed, you are chosen."
