I love the suspense that Shantel has in he writing. She always has the last twist when you aren't expecting it. She brings the villian and hero out in all her characters. ( )

Just when I thought the story couldn't get any darker...

Holy Titfire. Words. I need them but they just are not coming to me. Why, because this author just sucker-punched me. The first book in this series was a shock because of all the twists and turns. In the second they kept coming with twists but this book... SWEET Holy Mary, Joseph, Gabriel, and Baby Jesus. I kept thinking to myself, "she isn't going to go there," BUT She went there. Oh, holy Crikey did she ever.

The depth in these characters and all their psychotic ways is intense. I love that the author creates them in a way that they SHOULD be hopeless and irredeemable. However, they aren't. They all have something intriguing about them. Their loyalty is something I admire. Even when they screw up it is not with maliciousness. What you see is what you get. Deke turned into one of my favorite characters in this series. He truly walked that fine line of not giving two pinches of squirrel crap and loving those he considered family to the point that he would die for them. That is admirable. Everything he does is with purpose and intent.

Demi, that sweet, although slightly twisted, girl. I am not sure there is anyone else that could have been more perfect than her for Deke. She handled his crazy with a brand of her own. I enjoyed them together and liked that the author again gave one of the GWS someone who was both strong but also calming for them.

This story still had more secrets coming out from the previous books. I was surprised by this considering I thought they had all been wrapped up but NO. That is what helped leave me speechless and seeking words. The author didn't hold back on pushing the comfort level at the advice of another author. For that, I am ever grateful because this was the perfect book. I couldn't imagine the story being any different. ( )
