"There's no me without you" This author is fast becoming an auto-read for me: every book to date of hers I've read has knocked my socks off and this one is no exception. This second book in the deadly sins series focuses on reaper Maureen the keeper of Pride and Jackal an entity that hasn't been active for eons. Jackal has been sleeping away his pain: A scourge upon mankind his only prior purpose was to pave the way for man's downfall by delivering disease and pestilence in his wake. Upon annihilating a village with his particular talent a witch curses him with her dying breath to feel the pain and suffering of the 137 lives he has taken. Unable to process the sheer depth of emotion from these hearts Jackal chooses to hibernate in his cave sleeping the pain away. That is until Maureen with the intention of winning a bet locates and collars him taking away his free will. So this was a fantastic second part to what is fast becoming a favourite series for me. This had all the ingredients to capture and retain my attention and this was a worthy second instalment to the seven sins saga. It also didn't hurt that this was also as hot as Hades. Jackal was a real favourite of mine here: his lack of prior emotions and experience with them making for some very amusing situations and while Maureen herself could have been extremely irritating here with her prideful ways. I felt the pair tempered each other ever so nicely: Jackal causing some much-needed humility in His little Monsters behaviour. Jackal’s Pride also continues where bewitching Sloth left off with the battle for mankind's survival and that of the Reapers hanging in the balance: so you do really need to start this with book one. Jackal himself bringing a whole new element to this particular fight joining the Reapers side in their now ongoing battle. Can't wait to see what's on the horizon in regards to this series it's just that addictive. This one gets a sure hell yeah from my camp. I voluntary reviewed an Arc of Jackal’s Pride (Seven Deadly #2) All opinions expressed are entirely my own. Despite a near catastrophe, there's time for a fateful encounter.Maureen Reaper, eldest daughter of the revered Grim Reaper, avoided an apocalyptic vortex which threatened humanity, but she still has time for gambling. She can't help it thanks to her curse--the sin of pride. Her latest wager brings her face-to-face with an entity no one has seen or heard from for thousands of years.Jackal, an entity created by the Devil himself, has never known the comprehension of emotions until the day a witch cursed him to feel for everything he has killed. Unable to bear the new burden of a heavy heart, he sleeps with no intention of ever waking again until someone finds him. There's nothing beautiful in their meeting. Enemies by birth, only more so when Maureen straps a collar around his neck all for a bet. She awakens a beast whose every first--every new glare, new craving, and new touch has landed upon her. Then she learns that the creature she sought out in a game controlled by pride could be the very one that helps turn the tide back in the Reapers' favor. But that's the thing...Pride is a bitch, and Maureen is her.
