Ken Hooper, the artist that followed first Mike Mignola, then Jackson "Butch" Guice, was never going to be able to top either, and unfortunately, he didn't. The writing, with part one by original scribe Mike Baron, and then the rest by Mark Shainblum, was only okay, and still choppy as hell. Honestly, reading these adaptations makes me appreciate what Roy Thomas was able to accomplish back in the day with all those Conan and Kull stories. Anyway, glad I read it, but also glad it's over. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Michael Moorcock's epic fantasy continues. The old races have perished. Across the fifteen planes of reality, the ceaseless struggle between Law and Chaos continues. Corum, the Prince in the Scarlet Robe, has destroyed two of the company of Chaos, but Mabelode the Faceless will not see his actions go unpunished. The Eternal Champion must call upon the power of other incarnations--Elric, and Erekosë--and travel to the last five planes to defeat the King of the Swords. At stake: not only the balance of forces at the crux of existence, but also a personal vendetta, since the captain of the enemy army is the same Mabden who slaughtered Corum's family... Corum finally sets on quest to defeat the remaining Duke of Hell, Mabelode. It is required to act swiftly because nefarious Mabelode's magic is spreading conflict amongst the people and murders start to flourish. To defeat the Mabelode, Corum will need to join forces with the other incarnations of Eternal Champion, Elric and Erekose. But even they might prove insufficient to accomplish the task.
Heroes, Gods of Law and Chaos, Mad Gods that defy everyone (here Corum's gifts will come in handy, pun intended :)) and inter-dimensional travel..... stuff dreams are made of.
Art-wise, Mignola is no longer with the team. While new artist does manage to keep the same visual style as in previous two books change is palpable and it is most strikingly visible in large parts of panels that are just empty.
Story wise, writers also changed but here I did not see any difference, pace and quality of the story and overall dynamic have remained the same.
Highly recommended to fans of heroic fantasy. ( )
