I won an ARC copy of this on Librarything. This was a fun read, a little darker than I expected.
This is a book of short stories in the style of Twilight Zone or Tales From The Crypt. It is geared to middle school age kids, but at times I thought it was a little too dark for that age group, although I've never read Goosebumps or any of those type stories. Good read for Halloween time and the illustrations are creepy enough to give you nightmares.

I think there is probably some difficulty in writing horror for young readers. The author found a balance and the stories are super fun. Fans of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark will love this book. The stories are unique, creative, and humorous while still being creepy. I'm going to pass this along to my nephew who shares my love of all things horror. I will update this review after he reads it.

Highly recommend for young readers (maybe parents should read first to judge if their particular child will be able to handle?) and adults will enjoy, too.

Even bringing your teacher a traditional apple can have disastrous effects. If this sounds like your cup of tea, pick up this book and dive right in for some frighteningly good fun.

The Bottom Line: This delightfully creepy collection of thirteen tales of horror is perfect for the middle grade set. The stories are short and engaging. Kids will easily relate to the troubles the main characters have. Every story features at least one spooky, black and white illustration. These bone-chilling stories remind me of the ones featured in the television series, Tales from the Darkside. Highly recommended for young fans of horror stories. NOTE: Not for squeamish readers. I found this book a fun, creepy read. The school atmosphere and moderate yick factor (also karma being dished out) would appeal to readers of the R.L. Stine Goosebumps -style stories, and definitely geared for the 9-12 range. Each story has a quick pace and short page count for shorter attention spans and timed reading assignments. ( )

was a good set of short stories. the book is differently gear to the young readers for a bunch of the stories i could see where they were heading as soon as i started reading them but still a quick enjoyable read. this was a library thing giveaway ( )
