As the title suggest the book consists both of a PostScript language tutorial and a "cookbook" with programs that achieve some interesting tasks. The tutorial is an excellent and very accessible introduction to the language; I enjoyed reading it very much. The cookbook is less accessible: it not only depends on material described in the tutorial, but also on the PostScript Language Reference Manual. Hence, the cookbook is somewhat hard to follow if the reference manual is not available. ( )
