Way too short to do itself justice, though to be fair, I haven’t read the series, perhaps there is some backstory or buildup there. I couldn’t quite feel the angst, which was fairly quickly resolved. Great premise (I’m a sucker for storylines where one or both parties feels their love unrequited, or betrayed), but again just too short for it to work for me personally. And while I love steaminess in my stories, this was a little too anachronistic for me. (2.5 stars) (

Very quick read and a wonderful novella about Collin Hunt and Erienne Stone, who were in love when they were teens. Due to her mother not thinking he was good enough for him, he left and stayed away to have a full career in the military. His loving sister-in-law Lucy the matchmaker get involved and helps give them a second chance at love. Enjoyed it overall, but I wish it had been a longer story with more details. Seemed a little rushed toward the end.

What a delightful story of long lost love. Collin Hunt left his love behind when he went to join the army at 16. Now he's a famous general and she is the new governess for his brother's children.
The situation is a bit implausible with the family needing a governess and finding Erienne just as her brother-in-law comes for a visit. Either way - the story is sweet and wonderful and you can't help but hope that these two will be able to put the sad past behind them and find their way back to a Happily Ever After. (

Bowman has special license to break my heart. She turns love into an intriguing adventure. From the first line to the last chapter, Collin and Erienne are a colorful blend of heartache, misunderstandings and second chances. Mr. Hunt, I presume is a mesmerizing look at what a happy ending could be. (

Does Lucy Hunt overplay her game?

Loving each other since childhood, Colin Hunt reluctantly broke with Erienne Stone after a request to that effect from her parents. As they put it he had nothing to offer Erienne and she was all but spoken for by someone far superior.
Now a decade later Erienne is a governess and Colin a General and spy working for the home office.
When Colin is ordered to take a holiday he heads for his brother Derek's, (the Duke of Claringdon) estate, little knowing that he'd run into the woman he'd loved and left all those years ago.
(Ah! Those meddling Regency mothers have a lot to answer for!)
Lucy Hunt, the Duchess of Claringdon, is up to her usual match making tricks. This time they might just harm more than help.
A pleasing second chance romance.
