I LOVED this book!!!! I don’t normally like fantasy and paranormal. But, this one completely captivated me. I literally didn’t want to put it down. Luckily, I can continue reading this story cause I have the other 2 books in the series!!!!! Elle Lewis is an EXCELLENT writer and story teller. ( )

I started reading this book in preparation for the second one, which I won in an ER giveaway. Initially, I was curious about what may be in store since the cover was interesting and I'm a HUGE fan of fantasy novels. Ultimately, I did enjoy the book, but it was off to a rough start.

It took me a solid ten chapters to feel invested in the book (too long in my opinion). The main character is relatable, but not quite engaging. By the end of the book I felt like I knew more about what she wore throughout the whole thing than anything actually going on. The writing style definitely reminds me of a new author which some clunky dialogue and info-dumps, but overall not too bad.

By the end (about 14 chapters in) I was decently invested. I think this built a good foundation for the second book. Despite having to wait until the end for a massive info-dump to figure out what was going on, the basis is interesting. I look forward to reading the second one and seeing the author develop.

Full review (complete with spoilers and my potty mouth!) on my blog. ( )

I really thought this was going to be a great story but unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the end. The story started off very well and grabbed my attention rather quickly. It did seem to draw on a little, but the writing was keeping my attention in some areas. Towards, what felt like the middle of the story where everything starts to come together, the anticipation was building, which picked up my want to finish the book. Then it ended. I realize that the novel is part of a trilogy, however, I feel the author should not have let the reader hang, forcing the reader to get book two. I will not be getting book two or book three as I am concerned that the story will drag on and finally resolve on the last page or continue to a fourth book.
I think the other characters in the book are nice, but I wish there was more detail about them, their past and the role they actually play in Sloan’s life and that of the supernatural. ( )

Staring as a seemingly cautionary tale about helping those in need, Dark Touch morphed, much as the antagonist, into something else.
The protagonist is haunted day and night by this being. She is determined and resolute in not giving up.
There is potential for this to develop into a great series. It needs a good professional editing to correct things like “fowl mouth” and “pursuing” when they mean “perusing”. It’s very wordy and more telling than showing.
The action takes a while to build which makes it difficult to stay invested in reading. YA readers might warm to this more though.
It was a good first start to a series. With a little consistency and editing, it could be great. ( )

Personally I couldn't fall in rythme to this book, it has the demonic touch and fantasy that I crave ,but I couldn't seem to really want to read it. While others might enough it the style of writing didn't express the way I wished it would have. ( )
