There are many books that have been written about how to manipulate, amend, and control the soil to enable high-yield crop production. This is not one of those books. This book will empower you to restore the capacity of your soil to function to produce crops while reducing your dependency on expensive inputs. Soil health is about restoring the capacity of the soil to function. Currently, most agricultural and garden soils are essentially dysfunctional. This book will open your eyes to the truth about how soil is supposed to function and help you restore it to full health. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

Stika calls the need to nurture soil micro-organisms as a paradigm shift in what he calls the soil food web. He discusses how tilling soil degrades it because “it takes time and energy for the plant to establish the necessary relationships with the desired soil organisms. . .” He recommends managing soil as a biologic rather than chemical system by feeding microbes rather than plants, pointing out that there are more microbes in a handful of soil than there are humans on earth.
I totally forgive him for saying “tenant of ecology” rather than tenet.
