I am typically not a fan of books narrated by multiple people but the actors and narrators who performed this did a great job. The characterizations and emotions they conveyed were very well done and you got to know and feel for each of them. The story of the band and its members kept me interested and rooting for them and also disliking them when appropriate. Highly recommended. Oh my god. This book was a rollercoaster. I owned this book before I watched the series but never read it so I thought why not read it now - after I spoiled everything for myself. BUT the whole concept of a book written by the author made it an absolute god send. A key figure that was in the middle of the creation and downfall of the band. I love the fact that no one in this book was actually good people throughout the 70s (mainly: Eddie, Billy, and Daisy) as they all did stuff that was wrong. I stand by the fact that Simone was an absolute god. I will die for the women. So was so underrated! The inconsistencies between people’s accounts was funny as well. One person says something and Billy says the complete opposite however I do think it was due to the fact he thought he was right in that moment. He does deny a few things through this.
Like I said, this was a good book. The writing was good, the scenes were vivid, the characters had depth. I just simply didn’t like it on a personal level. Premi e riconoscimentiMenzioniElenchi di rilievo
"Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go-Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it's the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she's twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Another band getting noticed is The Six, led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she's pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road. Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend. The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the seventies. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice"-- Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

I didn't think I'd like the book because I don't listen to music much, but it was honestly an education: I learned quite a bit about old-fashioned sound mixing, how songs are written, and how music management and producing work. You don't need to be a music-lover to enjoy every page of this novel. I'll be keeping this book around for a second read sometime down the road. ( )
