I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Tessa is working for the record label of her favorite band ever, plus she landed her dream job. She will be working with the band, Malus, up close and personal so they can produce a new album. But there is a catch, if the band doesn't produce a new album within a year the label will drop the band and Tessa will be out of a job. Will Tessa be able to get the band back where they need to be? Malus, the band made up of four best friends, Ben, Clarke, Davis, and Ford is in big trouble and not with just label but with themselves too. The group has grown apart and nobody knows when or how it happened only that it did. Each member is messed up and has no desire to fix themselves. That is until Tessa walks into their life. Now they all have found a reason to clean up their act. But the problem is they all want her. Will all five come to an agreement that will be beneficially for all of them in the long run? This is my first time reading this author and I simply loved this book. The flow of the story was on point. You will fall in love with the characters. I can wait to pick up another book by Lane. I highly recommend this book to others. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
What happens when you're responsible for someone else's future? Or when you end up falling for them?Tessa Graham has loved Malus for years. They were once a wildly popular band, topping the charts and leaving broken hearts in their wake. But for the past five years, they've been playing the same old hits, incapable of creating anything new. As an assistant working for the band's record label, Tessa is given the opportunity of a lifetime. Her boss informs her that she must help the band write and record a new album-and she only has seven months to do it. If she succeeds, she's in line for a huge promotion. If she fails, she's fired. And so is the band. What starts out as a desire to keep her job, and perhaps learn a little about the four mysterious musicians she's always admired, quickly turns into more than anyone could have ever expected. As Tessa spends time with each man, she quickly learns that outward appearances aren't always what they seem. Tessa may hold the band's future in her hands...but there might be more at risk than her job. If she isn't careful, she could also lose her heart. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

I was excited for this because a rock star romance with reverse harem seemed like it would be super fun. This book is about Tessa who is helping to manage the band made up of Ford, Clarke, Ben, and Davis. There were parts of this relationship I really liked but Tessa's relationships with all the guys felt very separate and I didn't feel like they each got equal time. I liked Davis and it seemed like he had an interesting backstory but we barely got to see any of him because for most of the book he's living somewhere else and we only see him when he has sex with Tessa.
Ostensibly the plot is about Tessa helping this band write new songs but that's barely present in this story. I would have enjoyed seeing more musicianship throughout the book rather than just at the very end. I also wish we had learned more about Tessa's job, especially since she says she loves it. When we did get song lyrics they weren't... great. the last song has the line "You’re my addiction. You’re a dick…you’re an addiction." which is really a laughable bad song lyric. I don't really like reading song lyrics in books and it's usually because they're silly, just like they were in this book.
I definitely preferred the other book I had read by this author but I'm not opposed to reading more from her in the future. This one was a miss for me but there were still things I really liked about her writing and characters. ( )
