Mail order brides are whom Ace and Chance are helping cross the plains. What could go wrong? With Ace and Chance, one never knows but I can assure you around these boys it is never a dull moment. In the fourth installment in the series, readers may find it hard to put the book down as the action and tension in the book never let up!
If it isn’t one old man and his sons after the brides and underestimating the boys, then it is two parties of men who want to “reclaim” two of the five women. Then, throw in amazing twists of plot and you have the makings of fantastic and thrilling novel! The brides to be are a mixture of women from different walks of life and carefully hidden backgrounds that eventually are discovered by Ace and Chance. The brides are about to come up against two men whom they can’t necessarily fool for long with their wiles, as well as antagonistic men who stop at nothing to grab them or retrieve other items from the women.
Just when one thinks that the danger is almost over and these ladies will be brides, surprise attacks and fights break out. I had a very hard time putting the book down! The plot was engrossing because there never seemed to be a quiet moment for the ladies or the Jensen boys as they traveled. I kept waiting for bad men to show up because Ace and Chance were always looking over their shoulder. The various female players were brilliant, dangerous, conniving and unpredictable.
The ending of the book is a masterpiece, and I hope you read Ride the Savage Land before the next book is released titled, Rope Burn. While you can read any book in the series as a stand-alone, I found it more fun to read all that these twins went through to be worth the time!
