"It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done." - Vincent Van Gogh As the future unfolds before us, it seems people are getting busier, more distracted, and less connected to the physical and spiritual world. This can be especially problematic for our relationships, as love is something that just does not magically exist on its own. It must be cultured, tended, and cared for as if it were a special garden unlike any other. Whether you desire to foster, encourage remembrance, or express gratitude for the love you feel toward the known and unknown in your life, it can be done through the practice of mindfulness and crafting. Crafting Love is filled with thematic chapters meant to inspire your own journey in your expression of love. Create an "I love you" notebook for your partner, anytime valentines for your friends and mentors, a conversation starter table cloth for your family, portable place shrines for natural places and animals, an "I am" affirmation mandala for yourself, or a rhythm painting for the Divine. With the help of a few uplifting friends along the way, Maggie Oman Shannon will help you launch an exploration into your love of materials, love of the process, and love of everything and everyone around you through creating transcendent, one-of-a-kind projects with your own hands and heart.… (altro)

TL:DR
- it focuses on the emotional/ spiritual purpose of crafting and has many projects for romance, friendship, teachers, nature, self-love and others in the world
- YES: if you want inspirational ideas for creating gifts with deeper meaning, if you want to be more mindful in your creative projects and spread the love you feel for yourself and others through all kinds of handcrafts.
- YES: if you love quotes, stories and reading from other's personal experiences.
-NO: if you are expecting a DIY book with list of materials, step by step instructions and pretty process pictures.
---------------------------------------------------

This book is about that intangible part of crafting, the spiritual and emotional side of creating something, whether for someone else or for yourself. It has instructions for about 35 different craft projects organized by to whom you are expressing love: for romance, friendship, teachers, mentors, family, nature (places and animals), self-love and others in the world. Some of my favorite projects:

Edible love letters
One-a-day pillbox presents
Portable place shrines
Collaged artist trading cards

There are a bunch of inspirational quotes spread across the pages. People from around the world and from different eras like Van Gogh, Antoine de Saint-Exupery, Wayne Dyer, Nelson Mandela, Rumi, Kiran Shaikh and many others, sharing wisdom words about love. As a quote hoarder, I really enjoyed that.

This craft book gave me.. how can I put it?… a cozy feeling. It shares many personal experiences from the author and the contributors and the text flows like having an informal chat with a friend. This is definitely not a DIY book with instructions and step-by-step pictures, but more like being around people talking about how to express love trough their crafts, giving their opinion, sharing stories, projects, how-to and tips along the way.

It is certainly inspiring and will bring more meaning, more essence to your crafting experience, but don’t expect a list of materials nor precise instructions. If you want a book to inspire you to create with more intent and spiritual purpose, I wholeheartedly recommend this book. *I read this as an eARC ( )
