When Lord Hawkridge inherited the virtually bankrupt family estate due to his father's debts he gives up the penniless trade born girl he loves. Ten years later he meets her again. Can either forgive not just themselves but the other to start again or are there still too many obstacles.
A good story with some interesting characters, and although a standalone novel it does have connections to the previous books in the series.

Erica Ridley does an excellent job of writing wounded characters. In this case their problem is with money and status. When Hawkridge and Faith fell in love he was a member of the ton and she was a merchant's daughter. He would have married her anyway except his entail was in so much debt that he couldn't afford to marry anyone but a rich heiress - if he could find one.
Ten years later, her family has made money and is rich while he is still poor but working his way out of debt. What he doesn't know is that he left Faith with a present - a daughter that she is raising as her niece.
When Faith and Hawk meet again after ten years they must work out the pain of the past before they are able to move forward into the future. Will money and status still keep them apart? Will Hawk find out about his daughter? All of these are questions that Erica Ridley handles beautifully.

Lord of Temptation is a tale of duty and honor. The odds were stacked against a pair of star crossed lovers, but love found a way. Hawk and Faith have a history. Their love happened fast, burned hot and left a lasting impression on their souls. He broke her heart and now he wants the chance to mend it. Ten years and one secret too late. Can the pain of the past, be healed by the hope for the future? Ms. Ridley takes her cue from the classics and crafts a tale of broken dreams, battered hearts and maybe a happy ending. (

A wonderful story of how honour and duty can make you lose the most important things in your life, but also finding them again.
A story of friendship and family and love.
