Perhaps this is a book only someone with a Sonoma County connection would love. (Clo is the cow that is featured in the county's Clover Stornetta Farms billboards and this book includes advertising art from 1969 to 2000.) Looking and laughing at one of the Clo puns has to be the only good thing about being stuck in a traffic jam on Highway 101. Dairies are big business in California and an industry fourth graders learn about when studying the state's economy. This book is "Moooovelous" and will add a bit of levity to the school day. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

I wish the Clover advertising team of today would go back to Clo instead of those stupid "our milk is just like wine" billboards they've got up right now.
The forward is from Gaye LeBaron, sadly only a page but she's always enjoyable. There are some words from the founding fathers of the company, then pages of pictures and photos of the Clo billboards used before 2000. Some of them I knew, some I'd never seen; I would love a new book that included the more recent ones.
Also: before finding this book, I had no idea that there also used to be a cow named "Netta" (the company was then Clover Stornetta Farms).
"Her smiles are contagious, her puns are outrageous."
"For two decades I abandoned conscience to come up with the most outrageous puns I could devise or steal, starting with 'Clo's line.'"
"The Clover campaign is based on a couple of obvious points: the client produces an excellent product, and the advertising for something as basic as milk should be kept simple."
"How long can this lighthearted ad campaign go on? As long as Clo continues to bring smiles to the faces of her fans...and as long as they continue to enjoy the milk..."
(And then all of the puns. Seriously, I can't quote them all.)
