In this quick read (only 25 pages), we get some excellent dark poetry! If uplifting poetry is what you seek, search elsewhere. But, if you seek honest expressions of dark, and yes somewhat depressing, subject matter this is your collection! ( )

I just received your package a couple of days ago and wanted to let you know how grateful I am to receive a gifted copy of Snail Vixen and The Crystal Garden as well as a journal. I thought the journal was a thoughtful addition.
I think some pieces of the eleventh collection of your poetry here seamlessly speaks to pop culture and current societal issues.

I think many will find this collection of works cynical and even abrasive. Kiser is not hoping for popularity though, in fact she challenges the norm.

Is this book of poems "dark"? Maybe. I've never been sure what that means, though.

Poetry captures our life, experiences, and the world around us in a way nothing else does (just like other forms of art). These poems capture a world that many people do not wish to see, one that they may want to turn the lights off for, or close their eyes.

Is it dark? Perhaps, but only for those for whom the light is preferred, as long as the light shows them what they want to see.

I thoroughly enjoyed this short book and recommend it. ( )

I usually like poetry books but this one was a little too dark for me. There were a few great poems though.

I really liked this book of poems, because I'm not usually the person to read them but these caught my attention when I read them. I would recommend this to anyone looking for maybe your first time reading poems because this book is small. ( )
