You see, sadly, submitting against his will is not new for Chris. He never liked his old pack alpha, the despicable Clyde, in fact, Chris hated him with a passion. But he wasn’t strong enough to win in a fight. So he had to submit and protect himself as best he could. His next problem is that Duncan isn’t willing to risk Chris somehow managing to escape the new loyalty “directive”, so he asks him to mate one of the dragons just to make sure a mate bond is added to the ties binding Chris to the dragon clan. Chris picks Logan, the only male who steps forward, mainly because Logan doesn’t even look at him and his fisted hands indicate he is very angry. Yet the dragon insists he wants Chris as a mate. Chris likes a challenge, and that is exactly what he gets!
Logan has reason to hate all alpha wolves, and he only wants to mate Chris so he can kill him. When he doesn’t succeed, his anger only grows, and he rejects Chris at every turn. Logan has a problem though. He is strongly attracted to Chris, and Chris is nothing but patient with him, so Logan’s anger and hatred have nowhere to go after a while. He still fights the link he is beginning to feel, but even he has to admit it is difficult. One crisis later, and Logan has to reconsider everything.
If you like the ‘Of Dragons and Wolves’ series with its stories about loyalty and mating bonds that can be used for political purposes, if you think an angry dragon and a traitorous wolf can learn to change their ways and accept each other, and if you’re looking for a hot read with some wonderful needling and teasing between main characters who begin as enemies only to learn the error of their views, then you will probably enjoy this novella.
